Lana Johnson, Vice President, Public Relations

When it comes to public issue management, no one does it better than Lana. Long recognized as one of the best strategists in Alaska, Lana has designed and implemented dozens of successful public policy campaigns, including recent ones for the Alaska Cruise Association and the mining industry. She’s a veteran member of BP’s emergency communications team and recently served as spokesperson for Cook Inlet Pipe Line during a volcano eruption that threatened an oil terminal.

Lana spent almost two decades as a journalist, ending up as the first female managing editor of a major Alaska newspaper. She is the author of “Alaska’s Perfect Mountain,” a history of the gold rush community of Girdwood. A founding member of Girdwood 2020 and a board member of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and Alaska Council on Economic Education, she is a political science graduate of the University of Wyoming.
